Kona Magic Sands 203

Large Ocean Front (almost in the ocean) Studio with extra large Lanai that looks down into the Ocean! One of only 4 covered lanais in the complex, the extra appx. 200 sq. ft. is an extra room, giving the guest appx. 1/3 more space than condos without the large lanai.

There is a continuous, uninterrupted VIEW of the OCEAN as you walk in the front door, through the living area, through the "floor to ceiling" and "wall to wall" sliding glass doors, across the lanai to the lanai railing. Looking down from the lanai railing to the ocean you see a variety of reef fish. Looking out you see nothing but ocean where dolphins occasionally swim by year around and in the winter humpback whales may entertain.

This second floor studio unit offers a great location, free WIFI & AC is included. Comfortable unit with tropical d├ęcor, tile flooring, ceilings fans & a fully equipped kitchen. Come experience gorgeous sunsets with the occasional "green" flash! The large covered Lanai provides a shaded outdoor room that most other condos do not have. It is common practice in Hawaii to eat, entertain and relax outside and this lanai gives you that opportunity. No need to be indoors when you can experience the trade winds on your open air lanai. No need to go to an expensive water front restaurant - You are on the ocean and the second story location provides a better view of the ocean and sunsets than ground level condos and restaurants.

Kona Magic Sands offers an Ocean Front swimming pool, BBQ area & there are coin operated washers/dryers on-site. Magic Sands Beach is less than a 3 minute walk from the front door. Swimming, snorkeling, body surfing, boogey boarding, wading and people watching are popular activities. There is a restaurant conveniently located on-site and you may experience typical restaurant sounds.

Kahalu'u Beach, one mile away, is popular for snorkeling in shallow water while many visitors learn to surf at the north end of the beach. Keauhou Bay, approximately two miles, has businesses providing fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving and kayaking. Or just a beautiful area to visit. Keauhou Shopping Center is also two miles from the condo with a large grocery store, Long's Drugs, several restaurants, movie theaters, retail stores and even an emergency medical facility.

This is a non-smoking, no pets property. There is a 3 night minimum stay, 10 night minimum during Ironman and Christmas Holidays. Hawaii ID: 005-932-6464-01

To have an ocean view and be right beside a nice beach, this location is perfect. There is a trolley stop outside the building to take you to town, otherwise you'd have to drive or ride a bike as it would be really far to walk. The covered lanai was awesome, we chose this unit specifically for this purpose as other units in the building don't have one. Note that you can see your neighbors on either side when you're on the lanai due to an open railing. The unit itself was well equipped. It was surface clean, but is quite worn and could use some updating; however it didn't really matter. Our biggest issue was that the bed was so hard, we really had issues with our backs. As I said the lanai was great, it was nice that it was tile, as others we saw were carpeted. One other suggestion is that would be nice to have 2 lounges on the lanai. The beach chairs, beach mats and coolers were wonderful to have. The pool was just ok, there were some chunks of cement at the bottom where the pool was broken. The pool area had a bunch of loungers but only one table and umbrella. All of the hallways and stairs in the complex are carpet. Magic Sands beach is lovely with great sand that slopes out gently into the ocean. You'll see beautiful sunsets from here overlooking the ocean. All in all we were extremely happy with our choice!

All was as represented. Great beach access. Our only complaints are: the bed was way too firm, making it difficult to sleep. A foam mattress topper would be a good idea. Also, the chairs on the lanai need cushions.

Mahalo for having been our guest and for taking the time to share with us your recent stay. Please be assured that your concerns have been shared with our management team to be addressed. It has been a pleasure to serve you, and we look forward to welcoming you back the next time your travels bring you to the Big Island!

Great views and easy access with reserved parking. Bring extra towels if staying more than a few nights as only two bath and two beach are provided. You may want your own pillow as well if you prefer a firm pillow. Great sunsets and patio to enjoy them. It was also nice to have the air conditioning!

You couldn't beat the great location of our rental.

This rental has amazing views of the ocean and next door beach. It's such a treat to be able to sit on the deck and watch the waves. The rental has everything needed in order to have a great vacation, all you need to buy is groceries. Comfortable bed, plenty of towels, nice couch, easy to use kitchen, good pool, and best of all......air conditioning, because it was VERY hot when we were there. The only downside were some noise, making it harder to sleep if you're a light sleeper like me. We heard some sounds from the adjacent tenants/renters but that was mild. The ocean waves crashing against the wall just outside the building was incredibly loud. Again, only if you're a light sleeper would it bother you.

Cozy Comfort on the BEACH!

Magic Sands 203 is a delight to partake of the cleanliness and the proximity to the ocean and the Magic Sands Beach. We definitely enjoyed the air conditioning. The Trade Winds were not as evident as they usually are and the comfortable breezes off the ocean were not available to keep us cool. We congratulate the owner on the amount of supplies that are provided to renters. Most appreciative of her thoughtfulness. My wife lit up like a Christmas tree to be so wonderfully close to the ocean. She finds it so very comforting to be next to it. We most definitely enjoyed our stay at 203!

We stayed in 203 at Magic Sands. This place was phenomenal. Right on the water, we could hear the surf all night long. Woke up to yellow tang swimming right before our eyes and dolphins playing with tourists right outside our lanai. The bed was comfy, shower pressure good, all amenities were as promised. Premium location even with a reserved parking space. We were very pleased with this accommodation and will stay here again when we return!

We will def stay here again!

Stayed for the third time in as many years at a Kona property which was arranged through Kona Coast Vacations. As we have come see, everything was handled clearly and efficiently. After our reservation was made, we added some nights to our trip based on better flight fares and they accommodated us nicely. Our pre-arrival instructions, Concierge service for activities, and check-in all were handled in a friendly and professional and manner. The unit was spotlessly clean at check-in (with automatic door code sent for entry, so you don t need to worry about getting or keeping keys with you), the bath towels, beach towels, and linens were soft and smelled fresh, and kitchen had all we needed to prep and cook any meals we wanted (all breakfasts, most lunches, some dinners). The people at Kona Coast Vacations are a pleasure to work with and they have taken great care to pay attention to details in this property they manage so our vacation was the pure relaxation we hoped it would be. Will definitely use Kona Coast again. Thank you!

Kona Coast were quick to respond to any concerns and we always felt taken care of-in booking the condo, helpful tips to book tours, and they even booked some for us! Mahalo!

This is a well stocked, clean, spacious studio condo in an unbeatable location. White sands beach was fun to watch, a little too much shore break for the average swimmer. We saw far more reef fish from our lanai than we did snorkeling. We enjoyed the comfortable, secure pool . temp was just right. The surf is loud and non stop, you either love it or hate it. This is one of the few units in this complex that is airconditioned. That, along with multiple inside and outside ceiling fans, made our sleeping and our overall stay very comfortable. Pests in the unit were not a problem as long as we kept things clean, and managed the garbage everyday. Although we were warned about it ahead of time, the construction noise below the unit was annoying during work hours. Strategizing when we would sightsee versus be in the unit was the ticket, along with advice from Kona Coast vacations. Kona Coast Vacations was wonderful to deal with.

Would be 5 stars but for the construction

I would absolutely stay here again! This was the perfect location for everything we wanted to do on the big island. We’ve vacationed in the Kona area 3 times now, and this was by far the best spot (for 2 people). We had read that there was ongoing construction taking place... but we didn’t realize just how loud it would be at times. Then again, we were mostly awake early (due to coming from the Pacific NW), and then out of the condo by 9 or 10am to head to a nearby beach. But there were days that the 8am construction start time felt eerily similar to 7:30 (because it WAS 7:30am!). Oh, and we didn’t realize when we booked that we were going to be there for the two weeks leading up to the Ironman! Woo doggies there were a lot of bikers and joggers on the road the last few days we were there! Fortunately, we weren’t the only ones to visit the beaches NOT looking like we were physically fit enough to swim a couple miles, then bike around the island before finishing with a nice brisk marathon. ;) We had a marvelously relaxing getaway, and can’t wait to head back for more!

Beautiful view!

It was convenient, the bed was comfy, air conditioning was a life saver, next to a sandy beach (but waves are HUGE). Drawback was that there were lots of ants in the kitchen. David the Concierge was SUPER HELPFUL!

I found Magic Sands with the help of Google Maps satellite view, the great travel book Hawaii – The Big Island Revealed, and of course, TripAdvisor. Hotel prices in the area are phenomenally high and I was surprised to find that condo rentals were such a great value in comparison, even beyond the fact that they have a complete kitchen (and my wife is an outstanding cook). Like most of the prime spots on Ali’I Drive, it’s been here for a while and I think this is one of the best locations on the whole strip. It is off by itself, at the north end of a great public beach (more later) and just south of a small, palm-tree shaded park. I chose one of the larger units at the south end of the complex, with an extended lanai on our floor these were 202-205. This unit’s management, Kona Coast Vacations, provided great service from booking to follow-up. They sent all the essential information, clearly documented, and had a concierge service to answer questions. In the unit were small signs with useful information, helping me feel informed without being regimented. The units in the complex are individually owned, but there is an onsite manager to help with all. The back of the condo faces the street, so you hear very little traffic noise. The front is not much more than a dozen yards from the ocean front seawall. While we were here, at least, the sound not waves lapping over the sands but rather pounding surf. Though not much is promised in the way of accessories, our unit included a couple of great beach chairs, beach pads ,a boogie board, some pro-quality swim fins and swimming goggles, as well as miscellaneous other beach toys. There’s a pool outside, but we favored the beach next door. The furniture is all comfortable and the fairly recent remodel is practical more than lavish (and who needs “lavish” when you’re in paradise?). The kitchen is efficient and well equipped and there were a fair number of non-perishable basics waiting for us (and we will leave a bunch more). There are large ceiling fans by the bed, in the living area and on the lanai. At the far end of the complex is a secure and well-equipped laundromat. If you forgot to bring quarters, you can get change at the complex office. There were some detergent pods there and we left a box of the more conventional stuff my wife preferred. A minor maintenance issue was handled quickly with no inconvenience, even though I made the initial report on a Sunday evening. Wi-Fi is local to the room and secure. I clocked the download speed at over 60mbps, which many people will find faster than their home connection. There was a guide to the generous number of channels offered by Spectrum, the local cable company. We’re not really TV-watching people, but there were a lot of good local stations as well. The condo was pretty well stocked with basic living supplies and non-perishable sauces and seasonings (and we added to that pretty generously as well). You’re directly next door to Magic Sands beach which, it turns out, is a local favorite for boogie-boarding. And for that, it’s pretty darn near perfect. The slope of the shore is very gentle so you can go pretty far out and still touch bottom. But that’s pretty relative. When we were there, six-foot waves weren’t that uncommon. In the parking lot across the street from the beach, there’s even a bike-rental station. Notes on Kona: Parking can be a challenge along the beach area. Look for public parking lots, they’re free but often confusingly adjacent to private lots at $8.85/hour prepaid. The best and highest priced eateries are along the beach, with some better prices if you go east a block or two. For food shopping, there are KTA Superstores just north in downtown Kona and one that’s to the south in the Keauhou Shopping Center, a little further away, but much bigger and most times of the day it’s a shorter trip. It’s also a great source for the local coffee and macadamia nut souvenirs you bring home to friends.

We made some happy memories

We returned here after our first visit last year. This is very well maintained unit in a perfect location next to the best beach in the area. Kona Coast vacations management company has great people working for them. Communication before the trip was very good and they have a nice concierge that can help you line up activities or what to do and places to go on the island. Unit was fresh and nicely cleaned at move in and we saw no bugs or any problem the whole time we were here. This is Hawaii you must keep your counters clean and free of food. Kitchen is nicely equipped with everything you need for cooking your meals here and there is a blender for morning fruit shakes and a storage chest on the balcony with all the beach gear you need including all snorkel equipment boogie boards umbrellas and chairs. We will be back!

This is a beautiful unit in a very friendly building. The location right next to Magic Sands beach is perfect allowing quick beach excurtions without using the car. The interior has been renovated providing lots of counter space for easy meal preparation. Oodles of cupboards for storage and a large bathroom with ample shower. Bed very comfortable. Good to have a car for shopping and site seeing. No restaurants or grocery stores nearby. Date of Stay: 1/13/18 to 1/28/18
